Masters Kick Off Challenge Cup Weekend in Style
Challenge Cup Final weekend got underway on Friday evening with a Masters fixture as Brixton Bulls welcomed our friends from Toll Bar to South London.
The Bulls were boosted by several guest players from Medway Dragons, and the combined squad produced an entertaining and competitive game played in exactly the right spirit.
As always in Masters rugby, the emphasis was on enjoyment, friendship and respect, with both sides sharing plenty of laughs alongside some impressive rugby. The game was played hard but fair throughout, showcasing everything that makes Masters rugby such a valuable part of our sport.
A big thank you to Toll Bar for making the trip south and to the Medway Dragons players who joined the Bulls squad for the evening. It was a fantastic way to begin a memorable Challenge Cup weekend.

It was a convincing win against a young but spirited North Herts side for Brixton U16 at the weekend. After a long journey, the side put in a great performance, with a good breadth of try scorers and some really strong handling. The defence was solid with very few missed tackles. Well done to all the lads.
On Monday there was a great opportunity for the younger players in each group at the 9s festivals for U13 and U15.

The 2026 season is a Go!
Brixton Bulls Open Age made the trip to Bedford and returned south with a convincing 40–16 win built on effort, physicality and a mix of experience and youth carrying the side forward.
It was that kind of afternoon — hard carries, tough defence and a Bulls side that kept turning pressure into points.
The young legs brought energy while the experienced heads dug in through the bruises, bumps and questionable recovery times. Bedford stayed competitive, but the Bulls had too much power and pace across the park, running in eight tries and controlling the contest for long periods.
Try scorers: K. Thomas-Smith ×2, U. Onyenji ×2, B. McGuinness, C. Milner, G. Williams, M. Ashcroft
Conversions: J. Burke ×4
A strong away performance, plenty of sore bodies, and two competition points heading back to Brixton.

Busy Morning at Bulls HQ as Juniors Take to the Field
It was a packed morning at Streatham & Croydon RFC as Brixton Bulls U12, U13, U14 and U16 sides all hosted opposition in a busy schedule of junior rugby league.
The standout result came from the U12s, who secured their first ever victory playing 13-a-side, producing an excellent all-round performance to defeat St Albans. Strong defence laid the platform throughout, while those opportunities in attack were taken with some impressive running lines and selfless support play. A huge milestone for the group and reward for the progress they’ve shown this season.
The U13s put in a determined effort in their development fixture against Bromley Bengals. For several players it was their first ever rugby league match, making it an important day of learning and experience. Plenty of positives to build on.
The U14s faced a tough challenge against Bromley in a high-scoring encounter but competed hard right to the final whistle, showing resilience and managing to put 20 points on the board.
The U16s rounded off the day with an exciting contest, holding on for a 34–32 victory after scoring some outstanding tries. It was a fantastic effort across the squad, with special mention to the debutants who stepped up brilliantly. A close finish, plenty of character shown, and another memorable day for the team.
A brilliant morning across the age groups with effort, improvement and some big moments to celebrate throughout.

Brixton Bulls U14 put on commanding performance at St Albans Centurions to win 62-4.
The real story of the day was the new players putting in impressive performances with a hat trick for Hamour and tries for Khan and Usiholo.
Hamour scored first with a 60 metre run to the line. Brixton then were slack in defence and allowed St Albans to score from 5 metres.
Following that Brixton asserted them selves with strong running and big tackles from Heritage, Wilson and Cassidy.
Hale was busy at dummy half and Marmont-Robertson and McMillan led the team skilfully from half back.
Ferreira-Durrant ran 70 metres but checked inside when he was bound to score. No matter the ball went through the hands with Cassidy scoring on the other side of the pitch.
St Albans were a game team but the tries kept coming, McMillan scoring the final try.
There were clear signs of the team putting coach Kieran’s plans into effect so everyone should get to training on Wednesday before next week’s game against Bromley.
Hamour was named man of the match. Heritage and Nelson caught the eye in defence but every player deserves credit for an all round good performance.
Tries: Hamour x3, Marmont-Robertson x2, Hale, Cassidy, Wilson, McMillan, Khan, Usiholo, Nelson.

Brixton Bulls U12 welcomed our old friends at Elmbridge Eagles for the first league match of the season. Despite the Eagles bringing some powerful runners, the Bulls managed to keep in touch until the end of the game, with tries from Lacey, Rodrigues Oliveria and Searle, and three fantastic conversions from Searle.
In the end, Elmbridges strength proved enough to give them the victory. Rodrigues Oliveria finished as man of the match for his intense effort again.

Brixton Bulls U12 made a strong statement at the St Albans 9s Festival, finishing with an impressive record of three wins, one draw and just a single defeat.
It was a well-rounded team performance throughout the day, with the squad showing resilience, structure and growing cohesion across all matches. Rodrigues Oliveria stood out on the scoresheet, finishing as the team’s top try-scorer with a series of sharp, clinical finishes.
More importantly, the collective effort and consistency across the group underlined the progress being made. With contributions coming from across the squad, this was a performance that points to a very promising season ahead for the Bulls.

Brixton Bulls mascots for first Broncos game of the season
The new-look London Broncos kicked off their season in emphatic fashion with a 44–12 victory over Widnes Vikings at Wimbledon in their opening fixture.
Adding to the occasion, Brixton Bulls primary and junior players proudly took on mascot duties before kick-off, walking out with the teams and soaking up the big-match atmosphere, a brilliant experience and a great showcase of the club’s strong community links.
Off the pitch, the Brixton Bulls Masters launched what promises to be a popular new tradition, meeting for pre-match beers ahead of the game. Plans are already forming to add some touch rugby training into the mix once the weather improves, and the Masters are actively welcoming new players of all abilities.
The day underlined everything that makes the Bulls such a special club: inclusive, friendly, ambitious, and rooted in bringing people together through rugby.
Looking ahead, pre-season training for Primary and U12s begins in February, while U14 and U16 squads are already hard at work preparing for the season ahead. New players are welcome across all age groups and teams, whether you’re picking up a ball for the first time or returning to the game.
